Product Information

This series features coffee from women growers and exporters. We buy these to directly support women working their land and providing for their families.

Norma Lara

This is the 5th year we have supported Norma Lara and her family. She grows the best coffee in Honduras! Last year, she had a baby boy and she is committed to providing for a future for him, along with her daughter Gaby. Norma is an entrepreneur. Not only does she take risks trying new things with coffee processing, she is also on a new venture of opening a coffee shop in her village.

We taste: caramel, orange, peach, full body

Monica Guaman

Monica’s family has been growing and harvesting cocoa for generations. She, along her husband and adult children, harvest their own small farm and Monica leads the cocoa coop in their village, gathering and fermenting cocoa beans from neighbors who are smallholder cocoa farmers. The indigenous Shuar tribe have lived here for thousands of years and have been growing and harvesting cocoa–originally used for a drink–since approx 3,300 BC. We are excited to offer this chocolate from Askinosie.

About Our Coffee

Certified organic coffee is produced according to sustainable practices, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or other harmful agrochemicals. In order for a coffee to be certified organic, the farm must undergo evaluation from an independent certifying agency. The U.S. has its own organic standards, requiring a roasting facility to be annually inspected and certified in order to be labeled ’organic.’

Fair Trade

Fair Trade USA enables sustainable development and community empowerment by cultivating a more equitable global trade model that benefits farmers, workers, consumers, industry and the earth. We achieve our mission by certifying and promoting Fair Trade products.

Shade Grown

A traditional farming method in which coffee trees are grown alongside other crops under a canopy of taller trees. The mixture of vegetation prevents erosion and protects the coffee from harsh weather. Shade grown farms also provide vital wildlife habitat.
