Natural Processed Coffee
Aroma: wild, zesty, black cherry
Taste: red apple, black cherry
Body: juicy, chewy
We have crushed on naturals for as long as we have been around. We simply love the crushed fruit tasting notes the natural processing brings to the cup. Since this is a core coffee, we focus on taste profiles more than country of origin. For a natural, the taste profile is dried fruit, hints of floral, juicy body and a clean finish. Our Horizon Natural Processed coffee hits on all those marks.
A natural processed coffee is when the coffee cherry fruit is dried on the coffee seed (bean). It imparts dried fruit flavors with a juicy, chewy body. Naturals range from delicate flavors to fermented wine. This coffee lands somewhere in between. You can taste the natural processing, but it has a sweet, crispness to it. We develop the roast just enough to bring out sweetness and body yet still keep a lively acidity to balance it out.
About Our Coffee
Certified organic coffee is produced according to sustainable practices, without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, or other harmful agrochemicals. In order for a coffee to be certified organic, the farm must undergo evaluation from an independent certifying agency. The U.S. has its own organic standards, requiring a roasting facility to be annually inspected and certified in order to be labeled ’organic.’
Fair Trade USA enables sustainable development and community empowerment by cultivating a more equitable global trade model that benefits farmers, workers, consumers, industry and the earth. We achieve our mission by certifying and promoting Fair Trade products.
A traditional farming method in which coffee trees are grown alongside other crops under a canopy of taller trees. The mixture of vegetation prevents erosion and protects the coffee from harsh weather. Shade grown farms also provide vital wildlife habitat.
