Our August Featured Blend: Plutonic NH

August 1, 2013

Originally our Holiday 2009 blend, Plutonic NH was so good we had to keep it! This is a fabulous blend of a smooth, mellow-but-rich coffee with a robust, smoky coffee, producing a memorable cup. In

honor of the great state of New Hampshire, we named it Plutonic NH. New Hampshire is known as the granite state, and there are so many products with the name “granite”, that we dug a little deeper.

Plutonic rock is an intrusive igneous rock body that crystallized from magma slowly cooling below the surface of the Earth. The most common rock types in plutons are granite, granodiorite, tonalite, monzonite, and quartz diorite. Dig deeper, and you’ll discover that the name for this type of rock comes from the name Pluto. Pluto was the Greek ruler of the underworld (now that’s deep). You may also know him by the name Hades.

Plutonic NH has a rich, chocolatey, earthy and deep aroma. The taste: robust, round, cocoa-like, and slightly caramel sweet. The full, impressive body will arrest your attention and the smoky finish will linger.
