Changes in the cafe

The only thing that stays constant is change, right? Amber, our café manager, will be leaving us at the end of September. We’re sad to see her go, but she decided it was time to follow her heart on a new adventure and pursue new opportunities, and we wish her the very best.

In her two years with us, Amber became a wonderful, crucial member of the A&E family. She is a great employee and has turned into a friend as well.

Amber has a lot of strong suits. She sees things that need to be done and takes care of it. She is assertive and has implemented a lot of great components on staffing side that have made the café run much smoother. She works well with the staff, and they respect her.  She demonstrates a really nice balance between correction and encouragement. She keeps the staff motivated and working toward the common goal. It’s a hard balance to achieve, and she’s done a great job.

Possibly more important than that, she treats our customers with great care. She’s very friendly and personable. She has certainly befriended a lot of the customers and has made them feel very welcome here.

I will certainly miss her; we’ve had a lot of laughs. She was a friend as well as an employee. We’ve shared the happy things that have happened in our lives, and we’ve shared the things we’ve struggled with personally. There’s a bond there that’s deeper than just employer/employee.

Amber is leaving us in search of new challenges. She has learned this business and hopes to apply what she’s learned in an environment where there’s more room to grow. We appreciate all that she has done here at A&E and certainly wish her the best of luck. In no way do we expect this to be the last we hear from her. I, for one, look forward to hearing about her many adventures and future accomplishments.

For our part, here at the café, we will be looking for a new café manager to fill her shoes. It is my intention that this person will manage critical parts of the business and allow me to work on my plan for growing the business.

Make sure you come by the café before the end of September to wish Amber the best before she leaves our nest to take flight in the wild blue yonder.
