Recipes for Simple Sweeteners

Is anything nearly as refreshing as a frosty glass of your favorite iced brewed beverage on a warm summer day? A pitcher of iced tea or coffee is the perfect thing to keep in your refrigerator when you need to cool off. It’s hydrating, energizing, and absolutely delightful! 

Any time you brew up some iced tea or coffee, you’re going to want to have some of these quick and easy simple sweeteners on hand. Your family and friends will be impressed by the cafe quality drinks you can make so easily when you have these syrups on deck! They easily melt into cold drinks with minimal stirring. That way, you can easily adjust the sweetness of each drink. Gone are the days of gritty sugar that sits at the bottom of the cup. As an added bonus, they’re excellent for cocktails and mocktails, too.


Super Simple Simple Syrup Recipe

½ C White Sugar

½ C Boiling Water



Combine white sugar and boiling water in a heat-safe mixing bowl. Stir until all the sugar has been dissolved. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month. 

You can easily replace white sugar with your favorite sugar-free substitute, like monk fruit sugar or Splenda, too. Or, for a deeper, richer flavor, substitute with brown sugar.


Honey Simple Syrup Recipe

½ C Honey

½ C Boiling Water



Combine honey and boiling water in a heat-safe mixing bowl. Stir until well-incorporated. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.

You can change this one up too, it’s really a no-brainer– just replace the honey with agave, molasses, or any other thick syrups you have around the house.

Once cooled, you could try adding a teaspoon of your favorite extracts like vanilla, peppermint, lavender, or coconut to take the flavor of your drinks to the next level!  

Our favorite thing about these recipes? Since it’s a 1:1 ratio of sweetener to water, it’s incredibly easy to halve, double, or even quadruple the recipe.
