I started A&E Coffee & Tea with a dream to roast amazing coffee from amazing growers and serve it to amazing customers. It has taken fierce determination, grit and a lot of luck to become as successful as we are today. I want to take a moment to thank all of those who have helped make this dream come true: family, staff and especially the customers!
Now and Later
We have some big growth plans that are already in motion on both the wholesale and retail sides, and I’m excited to share them with you as they unfold. However, as with any business, there’s the plan on paper and then there’s the actual reality of running a business. Timing doesn’t always work out perfectly. We find ourselves in that mismatched time frame right now due to circumstances that are out of our control. The new landlord of the shopping plaza in Amherst has decided to remodel the plaza and significantly increase our rent to pay for it.
We have been considering moving to a better, newer, more convenient location for quite a while, but we wanted to see what the new landlords were going to do. Now we know. After a long negotiation with the new landlords, we have been unable to negotiate favorable lease terms going forward. Instead of passing along the rent increases to our customers, we are closing the Amherst location on July 22, 2022.
Scale Back to Grow
Sometimes less is more. I firmly believe that when this door closes a newer, better, brighter door will open. It’s hard to see the future possibilities when your head is down just figuring out how to manage the next hour, shift, day, week. I’m excited to see what amazing opportunities open up, now that we have time to lift up our heads.
The Most Amazing Customers
I want to give a special THANK YOU to our loyal Amherst cafe customers. That little cafe grew and grew into what we are today. Whether you’ve been a customer for years or have just recently found us, I am grateful for your continued support and loyalty. We had some great times in the little farm house.
Where Real Recognition is Due
Finally, I want to give a massive shout out to my staff, past and present, for being such a vital part of this location. You helped A&E provide so many wonderful experiences to countless customers over the years. Your efforts and dedication have never gone unnoticed. I am so very thankful for you! A&E could not have been as successful as it is without your hard work and dedication.
Visit Us in Manchester & Nashua
We are already working on plans for our next location nearby. There’s really never a dull moment at A&E. In the meantime, please visit us in our Manchester cafe and our Roaster HQ in Nashua. You will see familiar friendly faces and the same great coffees and teas!
